Adult Watercolor Class – Beginning & Intermediate Painters

Come join us to explore the medium of watercolor. As you gain experience working with your tools: paints, water, paper, brushes and various materials you will be prepared to enjoy years of painting. You will be encouraged to venture in any direction you choose. Step-by-step the world of watercolor will unfold.

Class Fee: $120./mo    Seniors 65+ $95./mo (4 classes)    Private classes $30./hr.

Watercolor Supply ListIf you need help with supplies call Beth to discuss.
- #2 pencil or mechanical pencil, pencil sharpener, kneaded eraser
- Watercolor Brushes: ROUND brushes size #12 & #8 (your style will determine other size brushes)
- Watercolor Paper: 9” x 12” or 11” x 15”
- Palette: best choice has large paint storage sections and large flat mixing areas –

- Tape: artist’s tape or masking tape
- Watercolor Paint Tubes: basic suggested colors Alizarin Crimson, Cadmium Red, Cadmium Yellow Dark, Yellow Ochre, Ultramarine Blue, Burnt Sienna, and Sepia
- Water spray bottle (atomizer bottle)
- Water container for washing brushes
- Paper Towels: Top Job is very absorbent
- Vinyl tablecloth to cover your work area
-  Optional: Watercolor Flat Brush: size#8 and any of your favorite brushes
Other popular paint colors: Cerulean, Indigo, Cadmium Yellow light and your favorites

Class Outline:
  • 1st class – paint a color wheel, prepare paper, experiment with mixing paint and water
  • 2nd class – paint a still life, learn and practice application techniques
  • 3rd &4th class – paint a still life or one of your photographs, practice techniques
Future classes – gain expertise to achieve desired effects with individual instruction Suggestion:  Bring a camera to photograph the class still life to continue painting at home.
